Lana and Emily win prizes at the 2018 UNSW Science Postgraduate Research Competition!
The Science Postgraduate Research Showcase is an annual event that highlights excellent research conducted by postgraduate students in the Faculty of Science at UNSW Sydney. Students must prepare a 250 word abstract, a poster for display and deliver a one minute talk outlining their research. Over 100 students entered this year which included Lana Ly and Emily Vohralik from the Crossley/Quinlan Lab. This year, there were also several one-minute presentations from the academic staff on their research. Our supervisor and Scientia Fellow, Kate Quinlan, participated in this with her talk on "Investigating a skinny mouse to find new anti-obesity drugs".
Lana and Emily both won prizes for their research - Lana winning a second place prize for her entry on "Fighting blood diseases with POKEMON", and Emily winning a third place prize for her entry on "Engineering the immune system to fight obesity".
